Children's and Young Adult Literature Prize
We are pleased to share that the book "Rompi le scatole! Idee e storie per fare a pezzi stereotipi e pregiudizi", written by our colleague Pina Caporaso with illustrations by Cristina Portolano (Settenove), has won the 5th edition of the “La Magna Capitana” Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, awarded by the Puglia Region.
The book triumphed in the 12+ category, chosen by a huge jury of young readers. It explores complex and timely themes — body image, gender, education, immigration, religion, identity and new technologies — through stories and reflections aimed at dismantling stereotypes and prejudice.
This edition reflects the prize’s growing international reach: participating classes came from Italy, Slovenia and Australia, and the winning authors across the three categories are Italian, Greek and Iranian.
Pina Caporaso teaches in the Primary School, where inclusive education is at the heart of her work.
