Successful Follow-Up Repair Café Workshop

We are happy to announce that our third Repair Café workshop as excursion to a repair lab was exciting and fascinating.

The workshop was held on March 26th with the focus to get to know at the Repair Lab as a place dedicated to independent repair, learning and experimentation.

During the workshop, the S1 and S2 students had the chance to discover the Repair Lab (https://repairtogether.be/en/the-repair-lab/), to exchange ideas about a successful repair café and get a tour around the fabrication laboratory (https://fablab.vub.be/) of the Department of Engineering Technology at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. The highlights of the tour were the explanation, possibilities, and insights of modern workshop machines such as laser cutter, CNC mills and 3D printer.

At the end of the workshop, there was the mission was to open a mysteriously closed toolbox - an escape game tailored to the skills of a repair cafes. With great motivation and a lot of skill, all groups were able to solve the puzzles almost equally.

The materials for the workshop were prepared and provided by the dedicated team at REPAIR TOGETHER.

Another repair campaign was carried out as part of the biodiversity week. As workshop during this week, a group of motivated students were able to try out repairing defective devices. Great results were achieved with the help of experienced repairers. Among other things, the students repaired headphones, a kitchen mixer and a waffle maker and thus avoided unnecessary electronic waste. The participants and organizers created a relaxed atmosphere with great results.

A thank you goes out to the students for their enthusiasm. We also extend our gratitude to the REPAIR TOGETHER (https://repairtogether.be/nl/startpagina/) team for their invaluable support and preparation, Caroline JEANJOT for organizing and Alexandre ORISTIL for advising and supporting the children.
